The idea is to squeeze the entrance area so it’s more easily guarded by the bees to try reduce or stop the entry of Phorid Fly.

These are being offered to beekeepers that like to try out different concepts but can’t be supplied free because it takes time and materials to make. All sales help fund research at nativebeehives.com. Any observations or feedback is much appreciated after using it for a while so improvements can be made over time.

Made from Cypress with a 13mm tube fitting that plugs in to your existing standard 13mm round entrance
These are uncoated – raw timber. You can leave as is or coat them with your preference of finishes

Installation:

The entrance block will plug in to your standard 13mm entrance hole
Plug in the new entrance at night and let the bees discover it when they exit the hive the next day
You should monitor the bees after installation to make sure it’s all working for them
When ever you change something with the hive entrance the bees may get confused until they get use to it. Give them time to work it out.
