These solitary bee blocks provide a great opportunity to learn about and research some of Australia’s native bees.

Individual blocks can be removed and viewed. (replace in the same position so the bees can find their nest)
Great for photos and videos of the internal nest activity.
Suitable for: Resin bees, Leafcutters, Megachile denaii, Megachile mystaceana, Megachile aurifrons,
Hardwood marine ply housing with six routed pine internal blocks with a clear sheet on each block.
Dimensions outside: 210mm high, 220mm roof front to back, 190mm wide roof. Routed channels are 155mm long as recommended by research.
30 nest holes, various sizes.

Position:

Place under cover so it’s sheltered from extreme sun or rain, on a patio or verandah so you can view it easily.
The wood can handle a bit of rain but it’s best not to expose the bee structures or cells to water. Getting the bee cells wet could cause them to fail.

Tip:

You don’t have to use all the blocks at once. You can remove three blocks and put them away for later/next year. Having less blocks in the hotel may be easier to monitor.
